Meet New Youth Minister Paul Morris
Hello parish,
“You should bring something into the world that wasn’t there before. It doesn’t matter what that is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a table or a film or gardening – everyone should create. You should do something, then sit back and say, ‘I did that’.”
I was born in Atlanta and given the name Paul Anthony Morris, Jr. Over the years, I have gone by Anthony, Tony, and now Paul. I was baptized and went to preschool at St. Martin’s, and through middle and high school went to Wesleyan, St Francis and graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School. Throughout all of this, I was a youth at Christ Church, Norcross. From getting into trouble to being there for my fellow youth in need, I was referred to by many as the “crazy kid with a heart of gold.” The community that I grew up with was one of the greatest bonds and most of my best friends are from this point in my life. This is what I hope to bring to Church of the Holy Spirit, a sense of community in the youth and a bond that will never be broken.
My time with God took a small nose dive in my first few years of college, but with the help of a great Canterbury Club and Vocare, I kept going to church. When I moved home after college, I felt a lacking in my life and returned to Christ Church, Norcross, and within two months I was asked to be a youth leader for middle school youth. These children are now midway through high school, and watching them grow and become members of Christ has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Because of this great feeling, much discernment and a weekend retreat, I found my calling to be a youth minister and to help guide youth on their own spiritual journeys.
I am a big proponent of respect, not just for me but for the youth. I want to create an environment that they not only feel safe in, but a place where they can be themselves. My way of thinking is safety while getting to know Jesus, all while having a great time. I truly believe that most youth and their parents are looking for a safe, super fun place and that’s what I want to provide. If you have any questions you can email me at tmorris5680@live.com.
God’s Peace,
Paul Morris
