Music At Holy Spirit

Then we'll be a choir - not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus! So reach out and welcome one another to God's glory. Romans 15:6-7

“Sing, then. Sing, indeed, with shoulders back, and head up so that song might go to the roof and beyond to the sky. Mass on mass of tone, with a hard edge, and rich with quality, every single note a carpet of colour woven from basso profundo, and basso, and baritone, and alto, and tenor, and soprano, and also mezzo, and contralto, singing and singing, until life and all things living are become a song.
O, Voice of Man, organ of most lovely might.”
― Richard Llewellyn, How Green Was My Valley

The Psalmists commanded us to sing a new song; enter his gates with praise and thanksgiving; make a joyful noise unto our God; and to let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

Here at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, we take that to heart! Music is a support to our service with the Liturgical, seasonal pieces that form our worship, as well as the great hymnody of the church. The choirs work to sing anthems each week that reflect the Liturgical Season or the Gospel Reading, spanning the decades from Gregorian chant, Baroque, Romantic and Contemporary pieces of integrity of tune and text. Everyone is welcome to join with us as we serve God with our hearts and voices.

THE PARISH CHOIR is open to youth and adults of all ages. Our rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 P.M., and Sunday at 10 A.M. We support the 1-:45 Service, as well as all special Holy Days throughout the year. Bring you voice and come rejoice with us!

THE ST CLARE SINGERS WOMEN’S CHOIR is composed of women of all ages from Cumming, Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Gainesville, Ball Ground, Big Canoe and Alpharetta. All women of the Parish and Community are welcome! We support the special Evensongs at Holy Spirit, present seasonal programs at other churches, and sing at Assisted Living Facilities 8 times throughout the year. Our music spans Gregorian, Classical, Contemporary and Broadway. We have monthly lunch gatherings at local establishments. Our rehearsals are on Thursday morning at 10 A.M.

THE ST. DUNSTAN RINGERS – Named for the Patron St. of Bells, the St. Dunstan Ringers play often for our services and Evensongs. Our music spans hymn arrangements, to more challenging pieces. If you can read music well, and have time on Wednesday evenings at 5:45 P.M., please join us. The sound of bells in worship is heavenly!

CHILDREN’S MUSIC – Our children are gathered each year to present a Christmas Pageant, generally involving music. It is our hope that we will have more children to participate in a formal Children’s Choir in the future.

INSTRUMENTALISTS – We welcome instrumentalists to participate in Voluntary music, or to support a choral anthem. Flutes, woodwinds, reeds and string instruments are all welcome!

Come and make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
